How to Use This Wiki - linking

Wikis are made out of links and pages. Each page is an entity (or piece of data). Links to and from each page describe how that entity relates to other entities.
For example, in the course of these instructions it became necessary to explain the role of linking in how you will use this wiki. That need made it necessary to create the page you're reading.
There were several possible ways to create this page.

The page could have been created using the "New Page" link to the right. This would have created a page that has no links to any other page.
Alternatively, this page could have been created by making a link to it using the page editor. A link can be created to a page before the page itself has been created. Later, clicking on the link will present the user with the option of creating the page and choosing a template for it.
While you are working on your sections of Song of Myself you will create several different kinds of pages using links.

Glossary Pages

There are glossary page links throughout the text. Remember to use the Glossary Template when creating new Glossary pages. Here are more instructions.

Commentary Pages

Create commentary links when something in the text or in your own comments and explanations needs further elaboration. For example, the word "Grass" has significant meaning in Song of Myself but doesn't need a glossary entry. A commentary page uses the Commentary Template, which will automatically place a list of pages that link to it at the bottom of the page.
